AWARENESS ABOUT THE RELEVANCE OF THE 2020 CENSUS AS PUERTO RICO FACES NEW REALITY

Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) joins the Youth Development Institute (YDI) and the United States Census Bureau to educate families on the importance of completing the 2020 Census, through an orientation broadcasted LIVE on Thursday, July 9 at 3:00 pm through BGCPR social platforms and website bgcpr.org.

“At Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico, we recognize the importance of the census in providing valuable information that determines the distribution of funds for essential services such as education and health. The Census also helps us see changes in our communities and, without a doubt, our populations have been affected in the last decade by events as recent as the 2017 hurricanes, and this year’s earthquakes and pandemic,” expressed Olga Ramos Carrasquillo, BGCPR president.

The featured speakers were Maritza Padilla, Coordinator of the Census Associates Program, and Caridad Arroyo, Statistics Manager of the Youth Development Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the conditions in which children and youth develop in Puerto Rico through research, data collection and dissemination, public policy recommendations, and advocacy efforts.

People who participated LIVE were able to ask questions to the guest speakers, writing them in the comment box of BGCPR social networks from where the event was broadcasted on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.
