BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF PUERTO RICO RECEIVES ESTEFANÍA SOTO TORRES, MISS UNIVERSE PUERTO RICO 2020

(San Juan, Puerto Rico, October 27, 2020) The nonprofit organization Boys & Girls Clubs de Puerto Rico (BGCPR) will have Estefanía N. Soto Torres, Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020, as a special guest on Blue TV, this coming Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 3:00 pm. The Puerto Rican beauty ambassador will be LIVE through the organizations platforms on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as bgcpr.org.

For the past two years, the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization has supported BGCPR, showcasing its mission and the creativity and leadership of its participants in some of its most important events. In addition, the candidates and winners of the two past editions, Kiara Ortega and Madison Anderson, visited the Clubs and spent time talking and listening to the kids and teens attending Club programs. Given the situation of COVID-19, this year the current representative of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Estefanía N. Soto Torres will address the entity’s children and youth virtually.

“Our children and youth are always interested in listening to hopeful and motivating messages from role models. In times when the integral concept of beauty has gained strength, they have the opportunity to interact with our beauty queens as ambassadors of our youth and Puerto Rico, is an opportunity that we value. We are very excited about the participation of Estefanía Soto in the next episode of Blue TV because she has shown qualities that we promote as part of the programming that we offer our children and young people: education, leadership and social commitment”, stated Olga Ramos Carrasquillo, BGCPR president.

For her part, Estefanía Soto Torres stated: “One of my great wishes as Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 is to share what I have learned from the experiences I have had as a Caribbean woman. Educational and cultural spaces are platforms to develop our potential as human beings, regardless of where we are born and who we are. I am extremely happy to participate in the interactive spaces that Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico have created amid the pandemic. There is much to talk about and to share with our children and youth. I am grateful for this opportunity ”.

When the pandemic started, Boys & Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico adapted their services such as tutoring, homework assistance, career exploration, leadership development and family support to a virtual format. During the crisis, it has also provided additional services such as food delivery and access to technological equipment and to internet to participants to attend their classes at the Clubs.
