Jan Nieves Cotto
Jan grew up as a multitalented kid who always dreamed about becoming Boys & Girls Club of Aguas Buenas Youth of the Year. Mission accomplished now!
At the Club, Jan learned to trust in other people and, most importantly, in himself. He developed his skills in science while participating at the Club Annual Science Fairs and found out his passion and talent for dancing and playing volleyball. “Every time I finished my homework and tutoring at the Club, I helped my peers with their works and other academic activities. In the Club’s dance team, I also helped other members of the group to develop their talent to the next level,” says the student of culinary art course at his vocational high school.
After realizing how crucial are education and mentorship, Jan aspires to become either a Spanish or Physical Education teacher. “Teachers are meant to help students beyond their academic needs. As a teacher, I will help kids and young people to become leaders and pursue their dreams, just like the Club has done with me since I was a kid,” reveals with the same determination he has to represent Puerto Rico as a volleyball player and youth ambassador.
